Hey there! Time to dust the shelves off a bit…
When I first started this website about two years ago, I had ideas bouncing around in my head about what I could do with it, but I kept it simple at the time – and probably for the best!
Back in July, I put Guttermouth Promotions on hiatus for a while to focus on other priorities at the time. Little did I know that months later, a worldwide pandemic would virtually shut down the live music industry entirely. No – virtually may not be the correct word, because while the community is effectively silenced, it is only virtually that many fans are able to connect at all. And we are. Music continues to bring people together from across the planet as it does people from across town; these days, sometimes everything just feels distant, until we get together in a group chat or video call, or shoot a link over to a friend and say: “You won’t F*$%ING BELIEVE this single that just dropped!”
So we’re almost a year into this pandemic – more or less, depending on where you live and how it’s affected your day-to-day life – and while vaccines and better treatments give us hope for the future, most people are not ready to return to live music. That is okay. Nobody in the music scene should feel pressured or shamed into returning to high-contact environments before they feel like it’s safe for them and the people around them. But we shouldn’t stop that from letting music connect us – and it hasn’t stopped artists around the world from writing and recording new music, often helping us deal with the pressures of anxiety and isolation during an unprecedented time.
Which means that there’s still something to promote!
So I’m dusting off the website, and this blog feature in particular, to start publishing album reviews and other content that will focus around underground music releases – particularly metal and rock, as always, but other genres and topics as well. I am inviting avid music listeners who are interested in submitting content: album reviews, livestream reviews, Top 10 lists, AOTY lists, etc., to take just 1-2 minutes and fill out this survey, and I’ll contact you to follow up from there. OR, if you’ve already written something for consideration, submit it via email to blog@guttermouthpromotions.com!
There will also be more content returning to the Guttermouth Promotions Facebook page, so keep an eye on that as well!
Always feel free to send me any suggestions for online content you would like to see more of, or ways that you think promoters can help artists and fans connect in a virtual world right now. Thank you all, stay safe, keep each other safe, and we’ll see each other again soon!
